Can we drive directly from Maasai Mara to Serengeti?

There is no single “direct” easy crossing — overland options exist but involve border formalities and long driving segments (operators commonly use designated crossings such as Isebania or Namanga).

Does the trip require visas?

Yes — the Tanzania segment requires entry visas for most nationalities; visa rules vary by nationality and may be issued on arrival or online (e-visa). It is the traveller’s responsibility to obtain valid travel documents; Real Shangololo will advise on current requirements at booking.

How long are the drives between major parks?

Driving times vary widely (e.g., Nairobi→Mara is typically 4–6 hours; Serengeti→Ngorongoro can be several hours depending on locations). Some transfer days are long; air options can shorten travel time. We’ll provide estimated transfer times when confirming the route.

Is the trip suitable for children and older guests?

The trip is generally suitable for most travellers with average fitness.

This expansive 13-day circuit connects East Africa’s greatest safari highlights: Nairobi National Park and Rift Valley lakes, Maasai Mara, Tanzania’s Serengeti and Ngorongoro, Amboseli’s Kilimanjaro panoramas, the wilderness of Tsavo and a coastal finish at Diani or Watamu. Departures are led by professional safari guides.

Day 01 :

Nairobi National Park

Morning pickup and safari in Nairobi National Park; afternoon transfers and orientation with your guide. Overnight in Nairobi.

Day 02 :

Lake Naivasha (Rift Valley)

Drive to Lake Naivasha for lakeside birding, optional boat ride and Crescent Island walk. Overnight Naivasha.

Day 03-04 :

Maasai Mara (2 nights)

Early drive to Maasai Mara. Afternoon and full-day game drives across Mara plains with dawn/dusk drives to maximise sightings. Two nights at your chosen camp/lodge.

Day 05-06 :

Serengeti (2 nights) — cross-border into Tanzania

Travel to the Serengeti (overland crossing into Tanzania or arranged air transfer). Two days of Serengeti game drives—prime predator and migration country.

Day 07 :

Ngorongoro Conservation Area

Drive to Ngorongoro area for crater rim views and optional crater activities. Overnight near Ngorongoro or in Arusha depending on routing.

Day 08 :

Arusha (rest & logistics)

Transfer to Arusha for an overnight; time to rest, re-provision and prepare for the return into Kenya.

Day 09 :

Amboseli National Park

Drive south to Amboseli for afternoon game viewing and sunset with Kilimanjaro views. Overnight near Amboseli.

Day 10 :

Salt Lick Sanctuary

Transfer to Salt Lick Sanctuary.

Day 11-12 :

Tsavo East (2 nights)

Explore Tsavo East’s sweeping plains and iconic red-dust elephants across two days. Overnight in Tsavo East region.

Day 13 :

Coastal drop-off (Diani or Watamu)

Drive to the chosen coastal destination for drop-off or extend with a beach stay at Diani or Watamu.
